The Artist

Award winning artist Margaret Law is self-taught from Cartwright, Manitoba, Canada. After 40 years in Winnipeg, Margaret retired to her hometown with her husband Brian, and her dog Sam. She now busies herself with gardening in the summers and works on her art in the winters.

At the beginning of her career, Margaret painted in oils and acrylics, but for the last 30 years she has been painting exclusively watercolour.  Margaret’s use of bold colours and exceptional attention to detail give her a style that stands out amidst traditional watercolour technique.

The out-of-doors is a running theme throughout Margaret's works. Her love of gardening and nature are apparent through her detailed close-ups of flowers and snap-shots of trees, rocks and water.

Margaret's work was selected for four consecutive years from 2014 to 2017 for the Manitoba Arts Network Central Region Juried Art Exhibition Tour. Her paintings were selected for the Manitoba Rural and Northern Art Show in 2014, 2016, & 2017 with Redwood Pines being honoured as an award winner.
